Victoria Model Steamboat Club, located by Model Boating Lake in Victoria Park, was established in the begging of last century (1904!) Today it is more than just a club, it is the social gathering and a part of the history of each and every member.
I was so fascinated the first time I saw these guys carefully placing their model boats into the lake that I couldn’t resist but approach one of their members
Keith Reynolds, who, as I found out later, is a Secretary of the Victoria Model Steam Boat Club. Keith got involved long time ago when his father found himself chatting to one of the members and just like me this time, got captivated by this idea. Today all four generations of Reynolds family is a part of this club!
These lovely people with incredible passion gather every other Sunday to socialise and continue traditions that goes 100 year back. They design, they build and fix or restore it themselves! Some of them are actual miniature versions of real life ones!
They were all so proud to be photographed. I guess, it’s not a surprise knowing how much love and care has been put into it. Club holds approximately 14 regattas a year on the pond as well as social get-together at the end of the year to keep the friendly spirit of the club away from a competition only culture.
In today’s fast pace life and environment, in the middle of one of the biggest metropolis in the world! It can’t get much more pure and beautiful.
